CPA response to Government announcement on the future regulation of plant breeding techniques
Commenting on the publication of the Government’s response to the consultation on the future regulation of plant breeding techniques, CPA CEO Dave Bench said:

“The CPA welcome this announcement as an important step in unlocking the potential of gene editing to help farmers grow healthy, affordable and sustainable food whilst helping respond to the challenges of climate change.

“Technologies such as gene editing can complement existing tools and help deliver benefits to the environment, nature and nutrition.

“A proportionate, evidence-based and outcome-focused approach to the regulation will help attract R&D investment back to the UK, and we look forward to working with government to help develop that regulatory framework.”
