Topcon Positioning Systems has announced the appointment of Antonio Marzia as the new executive vice president and general manager of Topcon Agriculture. Marzia steps into the role following the retirement of Albert Zahalka, who concluded a distinguished career with the company. He will report directly to Ivan Di Federico, president and CEO of Topcon Positioning Systems.
Since joining Topcon in 2018, Marzia has held various leadership positions, including vice president of business solutions and later senior vice president and general manager for the EMEA/APAC regions. In these roles, he has successfully spearheaded collaborative technology agreements with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), significantly advancing the company’s technological partnerships.
“I am honoured to lead Topcon Agriculture at such a pivotal time for precision agriculture,” Marzia stated. He emphasised the significant growth potential within the sector and expressed his commitment to establishing Topcon as the preferred partner amid the evolving agricultural landscape. He noted, “There is tremendous potential for growth, and I am committed to positioning Topcon as the preferred partner in this evolving landscape by fostering rapid innovation and effective collaboration with OEMs and for the farmer.”
Marzia highlighted the company’s vision to assist farmers in increasing their profitability through value-added technology. He also noted that Topcon’s expanding portfolio is designed to work seamlessly with a variety of machinery and brands, thereby providing farmers with flexibility in their equipment choices while gaining access to the latest precision technologies.
Before his tenure at Topcon, Marzia amassed extensive industry experience, starting his career in the aerospace sector after earning a degree in Electronics and Automation Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy. He joined CNH in 1996, where he held several leadership roles, including vice president of purchasing and vice president of tractor products. During this time, he was instrumental in launching significant initiatives, such as the first range of CNH tractors featuring continuously variable transmission (CVT), the NH2 hydrogen-powered electric tractor, and the revamped Utility Tractor Range.
Later, Marzia served as vice president of marketing for the New Holland brand in Europe, followed by a role at CNH Industrial as vice president overseeing the Precision Solutions & Telematics business units. In that capacity, he led the development of new precision product architectures and the autonomy program, alongside the creation of connected services that included implementing a Service Delivery Platform and data analytics services.
Ivan Di Federico expressed excitement over Marzia’s appointment, stating, “We are excited to have Antonio lead our agriculture business unit. His extensive background in precision agriculture solutions, telematics, and product platform launches positions him well to drive innovation and growth in Topcon’s agriculture business. His strategic vision and proven track record of nearly 30 years in the industry make him the ideal leader to take Topcon Agriculture to new heights.”
